Description

Two carbon teletype messages received by Apollo 7 Command Module Pilot Donn Eisele prior to the launch of the Apollo program’s first manned mission. The first, 8.5 x 5.75, October 8, 1968, sent to Eisele by Vice President of the United States, Hubert Humphrey, who writes (spelling retained): “Best wishes for a total success with your Apollo 7 flight I have ful confidence in you, your equipment, and your supporting team.” The second, 8.5 x 7.75, sent by Texas Senator Ralph Yarborough, reads: “The whole world will be watching tomorrow as you, Major Schirra, and Mr. Cunningham undertake the most sophisticated of this country’s space missions, Apollo. All Americans have great pride in you and wish you every success on your flight.” In overall fine condition.
