Description

Scarce metal retirement plaque presented to Dr. Robert L. Adcock for his role in the development of the Titan expendable rocket family that launched all of the Project Gemini crewed flights of the mid-1960s. The plaque, 5.75 x 7.75, is laser-etched with a quartet of Titan rockets over a moon and surrounded by a laurel wreath. Double-matted and framed with an engraved plate, “Robert L. Adcock, PhD, 1955-1991, The Titan Team,” to an overall size of 12.25 x 14.25. In fine condition.

Robert L. Adcock spent 36 years in the Aerospace Industry where his earliest experiences were coincidental with and occurred during the early development of rockets and satellite technology, when space exploration first began. Adcock served as an electrical engineer with the Martin Company, builder of the modified Titan II Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) that served as the Gemini launch vehicle. His role in the program was in launch operations at the Kennedy Space Center, where he performed a variety of roles, including Test Conductor, for all 10 manned Gemini missions.
