Vintage glossy 4.75 x 4 photo of Wernher von Braun seated at a desk covered with rocket models, a painting behind him giving off the impression of a window looking into outer space, signed nicely in blue ink. In fine condition, with light scuffing behind the signature, done by von Braun to increase ink adhesion.
Accompanied by a NASA transmittal letter from Bart J. Slattery, the Chief of Public Affairs, dated December 21, 1965, which reads: “Dr. von Braun has asked me to thank you very sincerely for your interest in NASA's scientific space exploration program and the launch vehicle development carried out by this Center. The pursuit of space research by unmanned and manned spacecraft is one of the most fascinating challenges of our time. It serves to increase scientific knowledge, to stimulate technical progress and to improve life on earth for all mankind.”
