Crisply penned AMQS on an off-white 8 x 5 album page, titled and signed below in ink, "Gerontius, Feb. 21, 1901, Edward Elgar." Elgar pens a four-measure passage from the orchestral prelude of 'The Dream of Gerontius,' a work composed by Edward Elgar in 1900 to text from the poem by John Henry Newman. On the reverse is a musical quotation by Paul A. Rubens, a composer of Edwardian musical comedies. In fine condition, with light show-through from writing to opposing sides.
