Vintage glossy 7.5 x 9.25 photo of Eleanor Roosevelt seated and wearing a floral pattern dress, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Mr. Harry Friedgut, with good wishes, Eleanor Roosevelt.” Affixed to a same-size cardstock mount and in fine condition, with trimmed edges and light scattered marks. Per the consignor, Eleanor Roosevelt signed this photograph as first lady when she participated in a town hall meeting organized by the recipient.
From the autographed portrait collection of Harry Friedgut, the first managing director of the New York City Center of Music and Drama. A champion of New Jersey’s musical arts, Friedgut also served as the first managing director of the Griffith Music Foundation and as the Vice President and Business Manager of the Essex County Symphony Society, through which he directed the Town Hall series and organized the very successful summer stadium concerts.
