Description

Three vintage photos of noted African American performers Marian Anderson, Dorothy Maynor, and Paul Robeson, ranging in size from 7.25 x 9.25 to 8 x 10, individually signed and inscribed in ink or fountain pen. Each photo is affixed to a same-size cardstock sheet. Includes a Griffith Musical Foundation program for a performance by Anderson. In overall very good to fine condition.

From the autographed portrait collection of Harry Friedgut, the first managing director of the New York City Center of Music and Drama. A champion of New Jersey’s musical arts, Friedgut also served as the first managing director of the Griffith Music Foundation and as the Vice President and Business Manager of the Essex County Symphony Society, through which he directed the Town Hall series and organized the very successful summer stadium concerts.
