Lot of six vintage photos of noted authors and social commentators, ranging in size from 9 x 7 to 8 x 10, individually signed in ink or fountain pen by the following: Eve Curie, John Erskine, Erika Mann, Upton Sinclair, Cornelia Otis Skinner, and Alexander Woollcott. All but the Sinclair photo are affixed to a same-size cardstock mount. In overall very good to fine condition.
From the autographed portrait collection of Harry Friedgut, the first managing director of the New York City Center of Music and Drama. A champion of New Jersey’s musical arts, Friedgut also served as the first managing director of the Griffith Music Foundation and as the Vice President and Business Manager of the Essex County Symphony Society, through which he directed the Town Hall series and organized the very successful summer stadium concerts.
