Lot of nine vintage glossy photos of noted female opera singers, ranging in size from 7.25 x 8 to 8 x 10, individually affixed to same-size cardstock mounts, each signed and inscribed in fountain pen by the pictured singer: Edwina Eustis, Geraldine Farrar, Kirsten Flagstad, Dusolina Giannini, Beal Hober, Helen Jepson, Lotte Lehmann, Lily Pons, and Bidu Sayao. In overall very good to fine condition, with a heavy tear to Farrar and very poor contrast to Flagstad.
From the autographed portrait collection of Harry Friedgut, the first managing director of the New York City Center of Music and Drama. A champion of New Jersey’s musical arts, Friedgut also served as the first managing director of the Griffith Music Foundation and as the Vice President and Business Manager of the Essex County Symphony Society, through which he directed the Town Hall series and organized the very successful summer stadium concerts.
