English novelist (1883-1959) known for his series featuring the master criminal Dr. Fu Manchu. ALS, two pages, 5.75 x 7.75, Braemar House letterhead, September 3, 1926. Handwritten letter concerning a theatrical production, in part: "I sincerely trust my wife's withdrawal from rehearsals of 'Queer Fish' won't make matters awkward for you. But I realized from the first that she was not yet strong enough to play. She undertook the part in direct violation of specialist's orders & I know she could not hope to carry on. Sooner or later she would crash. She overestimates her own strength at present." In fine condition, with small rusty staple holes to the upper left corner.
