ALS in French, signed "Claude Debussy," one page, 5.25 x 7, February 21, 1903. Handwritten letter to fellow pioneering modernist composer Maurice Ravel, in full (translated): "My dear Ravel, as you are certainly at the Societe nationale this evening, would you be so kind as to give me word on what was played? Thank you in advance and with affection." He adds a postscript: "We will be in touch tomorrow morning." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Debussy's hand to "Monsieur Maurice Ravel, 19 boulevard Pereire." An astonishing association piece between the two most important French composers of their era, both celebrated for their musical impressionism.
