This early limited first edition of All the Pretty Horses was printed in limited numbers for managers and purchasing agents of large bookstore chains, as well as for select press members and authors who could write 'advance praise' captions for the rare panel of the commercial edition's dust jacket. It's believed that approximately 300 to 350 of these boxed copies were printed. The first of McCarthy's 'Border Trilogy,' All the Pretty Horses was a national bestseller, winning both the U.S. National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award.
