Vintage glossy 8 x 9.75 photo of a youthful Hemingway sitting at his cluttered writing desk, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, "To Dr. Parke Smith, hoping he gets that tuna, from his friend Ernest Hemingway." Hemingway has added a cartoon 'speech bubble' to the image, "Come on work on him doc." The photo bears a copyright date of 1937 in the lower corner and a 'City of Coral Gables Official News Bureau' credit stamp on the reverse. Mounted, cloth-matted and framed to an overall size of 13.75 x 15.5. In fine condition. As Hemingway is famous for his fishing exploits — indeed, a photo of a giant fish can be seen on his desk in the foreground — this is an especially desirable association piece.
