I thought and think it reasonable; but the international problem now is rather one of organized trade rather than of simple taxation. All I said about Communism rested on the supposition of many ‘cultures’ surviving in one economic commonwealth. I have no expectations that Marxian ‘culture’ can be imposed on all nations. — But interviewers distort one’s view as such as one’s diction”; and an ink signature, “G. Santayana, Rome, Nov. 23, 1946,” on an off-white 4.75 x 6.25 sheet. In overall fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, the reverse flap of which incorporates Santayana’s signature in the return address.
