Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “Th: Jefferson" as president and "James Madison" as secretary of state, one page, 14.75 x 8, September 10, 1807. President Jefferson confirms that George Heidler, Nicholas Miller, John Reager, and Benjamin Bowman have made full payment for a parcel of land "to be sold at Chilicothe by the act of Congress, entitled 'An act providing for the sale of the Lands of the United States in the Territory north-west of the Ohio, and above the mouth of Kentucky river.'" Signed at the conclusion by Thomas Jefferson and countersigned by James Madison. The original embossed beige seal remains affixed to the lower left corner. Cloth-matted and framed with portraits and engraved plaques to an overall size of 23.5 x 29.25. In fine condition, with Jefferson's signature somewhat light, but completely legible. An unusually clean document signed by two founding fathers more than two centuries ago.
