Derby, declining a dinner invitation, in part: "It would afford me the most sincere gratification to accept it, if I could; for I have passed few hours in a happier manner at any time than in your hospitable home." The Ellsworth document is matted with a portrait to an overall size of 11.5 x 11.5; the Story letter is matted with two images to 14 x 11. In overall fine condition.
