Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 12.5 x 8, March 21, 1765. King George III appoints John Burton "to be Ensign…in Our Fifty Sixth Regiment of Foot commanded by Our Trusty and Welbeloved William Keppel." Neatly signed at the head by King George III. In very good to fine condition, with scattered staining and foxing.
