Description

Silent film star, director, producer, and screenwriter (1882-1924). TLS signed “Thos. H. Ince,” one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, December 5, 1922. Letter to Mrs. Olive Wilson Hammer, in part: "I am sending by Santa Claus Mail my check for twenty-five dollars. I hope the old gentleman is not too encumbered with parcels and that this will reach you safely. I am a little bit scared of sleighs and reindeer as a means of transportation and I think in this age of pep and efficiency the old gentleman should be equipped with a Ford and you might suggest that his beard should be trimmed a la Van Dyke—a snappy up-to-date silk hat would go with this." Affixed to a larger scrapbook page and in very good to fine condition, with light creasing, a short fold split, and light show-through from notation on the back.
