Handwritten letter to a friend, in part: "I may inform thee that as we have engaged for the gentlemen who are interested about the prisoners to spend the evening with us at the Hotel upon our return from Havre I fear that we cannot accept thy kind invitation to dinner on that day the 14th. I think I shall be most satisfied to endeavour to meet the English labourers & their wives upon my return." In fine condition.
