Handwritten letter to "Juliet," in full: "I beg you will accept this book. I am very sorry I could not find a better copy to present you with. Such as it is, I hope it will prove useful, & that you will keep it as a souvenir of an old and sincere friend." The transmittal envelope, addressed in Mérimée's hand, is affixed on the reverse of the second integral page. In fine condition.
