Governor Sam Houston approves payment for "protection of the frontier"

Partly-printed DS, one page, 8.25 x 3.5, June 27, 1860. Treasury warrant for $80.99 for "protection of the frontier, this amount being for services rendered in Capt. Settleton's Company." Signed on the front in ink by Treasurer Cyrus Halbert Randolph and Comptroller Clement R. Johns (both signatures canceled), and endorsed on the reverse by Governor Sam Houston and Comptroller Clement R. Johns. In very good condition, with multiple folds, creasing, and irregular toning. A desirable format signed by the legendary Texas governor.
