Description

Major general in the Continental Army (1733-1810) during the American Revolutionary War, known as the officer who formally accepted the British surrender at Yorktown. Partly-printed DS, signed twice, "Benj. Lincoln," one page, 8 x 13, March 28, 1772. Agreement by which Jonathan Lane of Hingham sells Moses Lane a “piece of Land in Hingham afor’d on which his Dwelling House now stands and adjoining thereto containing Fourteen Rods more or less” for the sum of “Four pounds Lawfull money.” Signed at the conclusion by Lincoln as a witness and then below as justice of the peace. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing and staining.
