In part: "Official intelligence has been received of the death, by assassination, of the President of the United States…By this Army, this announcement will be received with profound sorrow, and deep horror and indignation…An honest man, a noble patriot, and sagacious statesman has fallen! No greater loss, at this particular moment, could have befallen our country." Matted and framed with an engraved plate and portrait to an overall size of 21.75 x 17.25.
