ALS signed “Danl. Webster,” one page, 7.5 x 9.25, January 8 [no year]. Handwritten letter from Daniel Webster sent to “R. Gilmor,” in full: “I am obliged to you for your of the 6th. If a case should occur, in which I could be of any use to our friend Meredith, I would embrace the opportunity very gladly. His friends have only to let me know when any effort of mine might be serviceable to him.” In very good to fine condition, with an old tape stain along the central horizontal fold, which has since been further reinforced with archival tape on the reverse.
