Description

German V-2 rocket scientist (1908-1983) during World War II who, after being brought to the United States under Operation Paperclip, became the first director of NASA's Kennedy Space Center in 1962. Three items signed by Debus: a color glossy 7.75 x 9.75 photo of the Juno II launch vehicle that carried Pioneer 4 into orbit, signed in fountain pen, "Kurt H. Debus, 3 March 1959, 0010 hours, 56 seconds EST"; a matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of the Pioneer 4 launch, signed in fountain pen, "Tuesday, March 3, 1959, 0010 hours, 56 seconds EST, Cape Canaveral, Florida, Kurt H. Debus"; and a TLS signed "Kurt H. Debus," one page, 8 x 10.5, April 3, 1959, sending the signed photos to noted autograph collector Rev. Cornelius Greenway. In overall very good to fine condition, with light scuffing and staple holes to the color photo, and some mottled discoloration to the black-and-white photo.
