Description

(Walt Disney Studios, 1953) Original production cel featuring Amos Mouse and Benjamin Franklin from Ben and Me, showing the little colonial mouse perched happily in the founding father’s tricorn hat. Total character image measures 9.25 x 7.5, with overall dimensions of 11 x 8.5; the cel is tape-affixed to a cardstock mount. In fine condition, with some lifting to paint to the extreme lower right, which could be matted out if so desired.

In the memorable short, Amos the Mouse aids founding father Benjamin Franklin in his publishing, inventing, and political career—contributing to the invention of bifocals, the Franklin stove, his famed kite experiment, the printing of the Pennsylvania Gazette, and the drafting of the Declaration of Independence. It received an Academy Award nomination for Best Short Subject (Two-Reel). Sterling Holloway voiced Amos Mouse, while Charlie Ruggles did Ben Franklin.
