The Fab Four rolled into Boston to play the first of only two shows they’d ever play in the city—the other was at Suffolk Downs two years later—and the stop was the 18th of a 24-date North American tour. The band arrived in Massachusetts after playing the Gator Bowl the night before, and they attended a press conference—sporting Southern accents—in the ballroom of the Hotel Madison, which was attended by hundreds of journalists and photographers.
Attended by more than 13,000 screaming fans, the Beatles concert at the Boston Garden included some of their biggest hits at the time, such as ‘A Hard Day's Night,’ ‘Can't Buy Me Love,’ and ‘She Loves You.’ The concert was marked by the frenzy of Beatlemania, with fans screaming and crying throughout the show. Police had to hold back the crowds, and at one point, the band had to pause their set while they waited for the noise level to come down.
