Brilliant hand-made stained glass hanging artwork by artist Andrew D Gore, entitled 'Smashed Clashed,' created as part of his stained glass art series 'Church of Punk Rock,' which features a design inspired by the iconic front cover of The Clash album London Calling. The artwork measures 26.5 x 28.5 and contains soldered pieces of white, black, gray, and clear glass that creates a striking portrayal of Paul Simonon smashing down his Fender Precision Bass, an image set against a large five-point star. The shoulder sections feature hoops for hanging and the lower left bears the artist’s etched signature, “Andrew D Gore, 2021.” In fine condition.
Simonon famously smashed his bass against the stage at the Palladium in New York City on September 20, 1979, out of frustration when he learned that the bouncers at the concert would not allow the audience members to stand up out of their seats.
