Vintage blue ballpoint signature, “Marilyn Monroe,” on a 3.5 x 2 business card for Las Mananitas, a hotel and restaurant in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. In very fine condition. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
This card dates to a trip taken by Monroe in February 1962, when she made a trip to Mexico—the birthplace of her mother, Gladys Pearl Monroe—to find furniture for her newly acquired hacienda-style house in Brentwood. For the next several days, Frederick Vanderbilt escorted the actress around Mexico City, shopping and sightseeing, before eventually cruising over to Acapulco and Cuernavaca, where this card was eventually signed. Las Mañanitas is said to be where Monroe met up with screenwriter, cinematographer, and eventual new flame José Bolaños, who accompanied her to the 19th Golden Globes on March 5th.
