ALS, one page, 4 x 6.5, March 6, 1857. Handwritten letter to Mr. Ellis, ostensibly Joseph Ellis, (1815-91) proprietor of the Bedford Hotel, the lodging from whence this letter was penned, in full: “I have been kept out later than I intended, and have only just now (9 o’clock) returned. I shall hope to have the pleasure of seeing you at any time tomorrow that may best suit your convenience.” In fine condition, with faint toning along the folds. Dickens wrote portions of his 1848 novel Dombey and Son while staying as a guest at the Bedford Hotel.
