ALS from Irene Dunne, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, La Quinta Hotel letterhead, no date (circa 1945). Handwritten letter to legendary actress Joan Crawford, in full: “Congratulations! I know how happy you must be and one Mr. Curtiz must be jumping with joy—you and your great success has made me more anxious than ever to work with him in my next picture. I hope you are feeling much better and will enjoy many more triumphs in years to come.” In fine condition, with a crease to the lower left corner.
The “great success” is most assuredly the 1945 melodrama/film noir Mildred Pierce, which was directed by Michael Curtiz and earned Crawford the Oscar for Best Actress, the only Academy Award she won during her acting career.
