Crafted with wood from President Tyler's stair rail, presented to an officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution

Appealing 10.75″-long gavel crafted from wood removed from President Tyler's house, with an engraved silver identification plaque on the head: "Presented to Mrs. Richard Jackson Barker, Former Vice President General, N.S.D.A.R., Hampton, Va., 1923, Wood From Stair Rail of the President Tyler House." In fine condition, with minor tarnishing to the plaque. Consignor notes that this came from the collection of Eliza Harris Lawton Barker, a former Vice President General of the National D.A.R.
