Maine-born Union major general (1828-1914) who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his defense of Little Round Top at Gettysburg. ALS signed “Joshua L. Chamberlain,” one page, 5 x 8, September 17, 1873. Handwritten letter to "Mrs. Chandler," in full: "In case you buy the college house and desire to move it, I should advise the boards to sell or lease the corner lot on Bath & Federal Streets as a site for the house to be placed on. I think they will consent to lease & perhaps to sell." Attractively mounted, matted, and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 22 x 18. In fine condition.
