Description

Boxing Hall of Famer (1883-1970) who was featherweight boxing champion of the world from 1901-1912. Attell later became one of the instigators of the 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal. Vintage ballpoint signature and inscription, "To A Real Fellow—And A Pal, Al Wolgast, From the little Champ, Abe Attell,” on an off-white 5.75 x 2.25 cardstock sheet. In fine condition, with irregular close trimming to the bottom edge. The recipient is ostensibly boxing great Ad Wolgast (1888-1955), the Michigan Wildcat, who was the world's lightweight champion from 1910 to 1912.
