American boxer (1866-1933) who was the first gloved heavyweight boxing champion of the world from 1892 to 1897. ALS signed “Jim Corbett,” one page, 5.5 x 6.75, personal 'Mrs. Jas. J. Corbett' letterhead, September 24, 1932. Handwritten letter to Bill, in full: “Don’t know what kind of a picture I gave you but the one I am sending today may be the same as it's such a long time since I had one taken. Am feeling much better but a long ways from being well. Now don’t mind me writing a short letter as it's an effort to write. Mrs. C. joins me in sending best to you both.” In very good condition, with heavy overall dampstaining, affecting appearance but not readability. Corbett died of liver cancer roughly five months later on February 18, 1933, at the age of 66.
