Description

Rare 14K gold charm given to American Olympians by Gen. MacArthur

Small 14K gold charm given to members of the 1928 United States Olympic Team by General Douglas MacArthur, who served as the president of the American Olympic Committee. The charm, measuring approximately half an inch in diameter and weighing four grams, is in the shape of a globe and bears the US Olympic Team emblem on one side and the text, “Olympic Games, 1928,” on the other. The charm is suspended from a golden chain. Includes a three-page printed report by MacArthur covering the success of the United States at the Amsterdam 1928 Summer Olympics, proclaiming: "America made seventeen new Olympic records, seven of which are world records. This represents, I believe, the greatest number of Olympic and world records ever achieved at one time in any set of games, either Olympic or otherwise, by any nation." In fine condition, with scattered rust stains to the report.
