TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, personal letterhead, no date. Letter to the former governor of Arkansas, Tom Terral, sent two weeks before taking office as president. In full: "It seems as though a special fatality attended our correspondence! I have just discovered that your friendly letter of congratulation sent me after the election has been mislaid, and therefore not acknowledged. When I received your letter of January 21st, this had been forwarded to Warm Springs and to New York, and back to Warm Springs again, and so I barely had time to telegraph you that I could not see you before starting on the cruise. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I was for these two slip-ups in the mail, and to assure you that I look forward to hearing from you again, and to talking over with you the problems which confront the new administration." In fine condition, with a small repaired edge tear, and staple holes to the upper left corner.
