Description

Ike supports an Army surgeon's "Stamp Collection Club"—"Let her know whether your main interest is in domestic or in foreign stamps; I think we can be helpful either way"

TLS as president, one page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, January 23, 1957. Letter to Sergeant Joseph B. Vaughn at Fitzsimons Army Hospital, in full: "I am delighted to know that you have organized a Stamp Collection Club in the Chest Surgery Department—and I have made arrangements so that packets of stamps will be sent to you from time to time. Perhaps you would drop Mrs. Whitman a line and let her know whether your main interest is in domestic or in foreign stamps; I think we can be helpful either way." In fine condition, with a small old tape stain in the upper left corner. Nice collecting content from the commander-in-chief.
