Description

Confederate general (1821-1877) who earned a reputation as the greatest cavalry officer of the Civil War. DS, signed “N. B. Forrest,” one page, 17 x 20, September 1, 1869. First mortgage bond for the Selma Marion Memphis Railroad Company in the amount of $1,000, signed at the conclusion by Nathan Bedford Forrest as the company’s president, and signed again by him on the reverse. Additionally endorsed on the reverse by Governor William Hugh Smith of Alabama. The bond retains 33 of its coupons. In fine condition.
