Description

Collection of four Prince items from Paisley Park Studios:

First: copies of four pieces of correspondence from Jill Willis (Prince's publicist and co-manager in the early 1990s) to Prince during October 2010: a copy of a memo on Paisley Park letterhead from Willis to Prince about an upcoming concert in Japan; a copy of a memo on Paisley Park letterhead from Willis to Prince about an upcoming appearance on the Arsenio Hall television show; a copy of a memo to Prince regarding the guest list for the opening of his Glam Slam nightclub (including references to tickets for Prince's mother and father); and a copy of a draft song list for Prince's planned maxi-single featuring ten versions of "New Power Generation."

Second: copies of a four-page travel itinerary for Prince's trip from Minneapolis to Los Angeles from September 2-3 and 9-10, 1991. The itinerary outlines rehearsal days at S.I.R. in Santa Monica, a performance on the Arsenio Hall Show, and an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Third: a copy of an invitation for Prince to attend, speak, or perform at a special dinner in honor of Richard Pryor, hosted by Eddie Murphy, to celebrate Pryor's recovery from recent heart surgery. The one-page invitation is in the form of a typed letter from the George Schlatter Production company, on letterhead, faxed to Paisley Park on August 16, 1991. A copy of a "While You Were Out" note is included with the decision "Prince has to pass" in response to the invitation. A fax stamp is visible at the top of the document.

Fourth: a copy of a fax from Warner Bros to Paisley Park, dated August 19, 1991, seeking internal input on a request from an international charity organization (focusing on HIV education and prevention) to waive royalties for the use of Prince's song "Girls and Boys." The one-page document is displayed as a received fax, with stamps at the top and right side of the page. In overall fine condition. From the collection of an early Prince insider.
