Terrific vintage glossy 8.25 x 10.75 silver gelatin photo of Paul McCartney in a full-length pose with his iconic Hofner 500/1 violin bass, an image taken by Robert Freeman when the Beatles appeared on the local television program Day By Day at the Southern Independent Television Centre in Southampton, on August 22, 1963. The reverse bears Robert Freeman and St. Cross Features stamps. In very good to fine condition, with short tears and creases along the edges. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Tracks.
On the same day that Freeman photographed the band for the legendary front cover of their second album, With the Beatles, the group recorded an appearance on the TV show Day By Day. The performance, which featured the band miming their single ‘She Loves You,’ was broadcast later that evening between 5.55 and 6.40 pm. When filming was complete, the Beatles returned to Bournemouth where they performed that evening at the Gaumont Cinema.
