Vaughan Williams remarks on "refugee musicians" during WWII

ALS signed "R. Vaughan Williams," one page both sides, 5.5 x 7.5, April 14, 1942. Handwritten letter to "Mr. Emerson," in part: "I was very glad to see your letter and to know how you still think of EFDS and all your English friends in these times. I was interested to hear of your daughter's musical career." He goes on to make a comment on "refugee musicians" amidst World War II. Handsomely double-matted with a portrait to an overall size of 17.5 x 13.5, with a glass backing for viewing the front of the letter. In very good to fine condition, with light overall creasing.
