Vellum manuscript DS, signed "John Armstrong, Jr." and "Chas. Biddle," one page, 15.25 x 13.5, April 4, 1787. Document issued by the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, granting to William Campbell, Jr. a "certain Tract of Land called 'Campbell's Fancy,' situate on the waters of Harman's Run in Washington County." Signed in the upper left by Charles Biddle as vice-president of the executive council, and countersigned at the conclusion by Armstrong as secretary. Retains the paper seal affixed to the upper left corner. Framed to an overall size of 16.75 x 14.75. In very good to fine condition, with light toning and soiling, and both signatures faded but legible.
John Armstrong, Jr. (1758-1843) was an American soldier and statesman who served as a delegate to the Continental Congress, US senator from New York, and secretary of war. Charles Biddle (1745-1821) was a statesman who served as vice president of Pennsylvania.
