In the episode that spawned The Andy Griffith Show, Danny drives through the town of Mayberry and gets pulled over by Sheriff Andy Taylor for going through a stop sign he didn't notice. The episode's cast list includes future Mayberry regulars Andy Griffith (as "Andrew Scott Taylor"), Ronnie Howard (as "Opie"), and Francis Bavier (as "Henrietta Perkins"—not 'Aunt Bee'). This episode, which aired on February 15, 1960, marked the television debut of the Andy Griffith character. General Foods, sponsor of The Danny Thomas Show, had first access to the spin-off and committed to it immediately.
