ANS signed “Jos. S.,” penned on an off-white 3.5 x 2.5 gift card from McEldowney's Roosevelt Flower Shop in Hollywood, no date (circa October 1934 or 1935). Handwritten note from Josef von Sternberg to actress Marian Marsh, in full: “Darling Marian, Thanks for working for me on your birthday. All the best!” In fine condition. Accompanied by the gift card envelope. Marsh was ostensibly working with von Sternberg during production of the 1935 film Crime and Punishment, an adaptation of the classic novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
