Civil War-era 'housewife' sewing kit affiliated with the 6th Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment, famously called 'Rush's Lancers,' as they were known for their early use of 9-foot lances in combat. The kit measures 3.5″ x 7.25″ open, and holds thread, stitching needles, and three small buttons. The closure flap is hand-stitched, "Pa. 6th Cav.," and has a loop that could be secured around the brass Union eagle button sewn to the back. In very good to fine condition.
