Unsigned handwritten letter in French, one page, 3.75 x 6, December 10, [no year]. Seven-line handwritten letter by Marie Antoinette, in full (translated): "I have received your little letter excusing yourself and you will see by this one that yours was not necessary. You have mistaken the date and I do not know when your letter was written. But what pleases me is that I now see that the bishop has indeed arrived. Goodbye for once this time." In fine condition, with scattered light foxing and toning. This unsigned letter is typical of those that Marie Antoinette penned to people close to her, likely written to a noblewoman; an extremely scarce format, we have offered only one other autograph letter by Marie Antoinette.
