American physicist and radio astronomer (born 1933) who, with Robert Woodrow Wilson, discovered the cosmic microwave background radiation which helped to establish the Big Bang theory; for this they received the 1978 Nobel Prize in Physics. FDC with a cachet honoring the world's largest telescope at Palomar Mountain Observatory, signed in black ballpoint by Arno Penzias. In very fine condition.
