Description

Collection of 17 pages of Hans Hosenthien's handwritten notes, unsigned and undated, however, given his use of the English written language, it’s strongly assumed that the majority of these papers derive from Hosenthien’s time with either the United States Army or NASA. Ranging in size from 6.5 x 8.5 to 8 x 13, the pages, written in pencil and ink, seem to have been collected haphazardly and are constituted of a variety of different reports, as such, this collection fields a multitude of diagrams, figures, and mathematical expressions. A few additional sheets and graphs, four of which are annotated, are included; one graph with German annotations is dated January 10, 1946, and a typed circular from the US Army is dated August 27, 1954. In overall very good to fine condition, with creases and folds, and some areas of paper loss.

As an original member of Wernher von Braun's team, Hosenthien proved invaluable as an engineer and worked his entire life with the rocket team at Fort Bliss, White Stands, and Huntsville, eventually being promoted to Head of Flight Dynamics Branch, Guidance and Control Division, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. From the collection of aerospace memorabilia specialist Ken Havekotte.
