Description

Extremely rare World War II-dated flight report document from Germany’s Peenemunde rocket research station, 11 total pages, 8.5 x 11.75, April 8, 1943, featuring a rare wartime signature of Wernher von Braun, “v. Braun,” on the third page; at the time, von Braun was serving as the technical director of Peenemunde, a title he held until the war’s end. The German-language report is related to Flight V18 of a V-2 (A4) rocket, which occurred on March 18, 1943, and contains sections for Aggregate, Test Purpose, In-flight Measurements, Dyno Test, Shot History, Trajectory, Results, and Findings. It also includes original glossy photos of the launch and rocket wreckage, as well as all related charts, graphs, and data sheets. Launched from the famous Prufstand (Test Stand) VII, the rocket’s engine burn time was 60 seconds with a range of 82.5 miles, after which it became too steep and rotated. In fine condition, with some edgewear, and a few tears to one inner page.
