Description

Slayton addresses the Apollo 15 cover controversy: "We also hope that the Apollo 17 crew will be allowed to carry some items as crews in the past have"

TLS signed “D. K. Slayton,” one page, 8 x 10.5, NASA letterhead, August 22, 1972. Letter to Forrest E. Cook, in full: "Thank you for your recent letter regarding the Apollo 15 covers and astronaut personal preference kits. We also hope that the Apollo 17 crew will be allowed to carry some items as crews in the past have; however, as you can imagine there are many people who do not agree with me and I cannot tell you at this point in time what the final result will be. In any case, we appreciate your interest and concern and hope that the crew is allowed to do as you requested." In fine condition.
